He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Swartz and Ada Swartz; his brother Elihu; his sister-in-law Mary Swartz; his sisters, Ellen Karbowsky and Darlene Eidemueller; his brothers-in-law, Gordon Van Norman, Ronald Tullock, Art Eidemueller and Earl Kelly; his nephew Robert Tullock; and his great-nephew Nathan Swartz.

He is survived by: his son Lee Swartz (family: Carrie, Autumn, Samantha); his sister Sandra Van Norman; his former wife Janet Howard; and his pets, Tater, Princess and Spud. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-great grand nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Shelter in Jackson, Michigan.
