He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Blanchard (Korleski); his parents, Henry Blanchard and Cecile Blanchard (Mallet) of Athol; and his siblings, Estelle Smith (Blanchard), Theophile (Jeff), Alberta, Annie, Howard, Norman, Albeny, Francis, Vivian McDonald (Blanchard) and Leslie.
He is survived by: his brother Raymond Blanchard of Athol, MA; his nephews, Michael, David and Steven; his niece Sara; his children, Matthew James Blanchard of Las Vegas, NV and Ann Mary Anderson (Blanchard) of Michigan Center; his grandchildren, Natalie, Erin, Ava, Isaac, Levi and Joseph; and his great grandchild Kathleen Blanchard of Jackson, MI.. He is also survived by five great grand children.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church (301 S Mechanic St, Jackson, MI 49201). A Mass was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Richard's memory to the Chesterton Academy of St. George.
