He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Rice and Marion Chaffin; his stepfather John Chaffin; and his children, Robert "Bobby", Shirley Rice, Leroy, Deborah and Danetta.
He is survived by: his significant other Loretta; his daughters, Susan Sloan (Rodney) and Sandra McCormick (Cliff); and his half-brother Dan Rice (Mary). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
