He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Mae Neely and Walter Norris, Sr.; and his siblings, Martha Stallworth, Marion Thomas, Harvey Hicks, Tyrone Norris, Dennis Hicks, Mustafa Shakoor and Norman Neely.

He is survived by: his nephew Ali Shakoor; his wife Cynthia Norris; his children, Anthony W. Norris of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Gloria J. Norris, Vernon D. Norris and Shannon D. Norris of Dallas, Texas; his siblings, Gwendolyn Walker of Jackson, Michigan and Jessie Neely; and his stepdaughters, Heather J. Selassie and Danielle R. Boyd Michelle N..

We all looked up to Walter (Pumkin) back when we played baseball in our very young years on all the playgrounds here in Jackson. I will never forget his jump shot , the highest arc any of us had ever seen! My prayers are with you, sorry this is late, just found out! Sincerely Dr. Michael J Sharp class of 65 .”
