As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Cathy may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Nelson II and Joan Nelson (Schlecht). She is survived by: her brothers, Mark Nelson (Patricia) and Carl Nelson III (Cathy Wells). She is also survived by aunt and an uncle, several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
A reception will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Heritage Life Story Funeral Home – Van Strien Creston Chapel (1833 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505).
Cathy battled Alzheimer's Disease for several years, and the onset of that disease precipitated her move to American House in Jenison in 2021. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
