He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mary Pals (Vanderzee); his children, Cecilia (Alan Patriarca), Luke (Danielle), Andrea (Pete Arends), Austin, Lindsay (Phil Bieberich) and Laurel; his sisters, Claire (Doug Fauble), Marla (Jack Roedema) and Lori (Steve DeVries); his siblings-in-law, Phil, Carol DeJonge, Paul, Betty Vanderzee, Sue Martin, Mark, Julie Vanderzee, Tom and Paula Vanderzee; and his parents, Alfred Pals and Jeanette Pals (Van Kley). He was also cherished by his ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In addition to the many hats Eldon wore as a teacher over the years, he enjoyed an active lifestyle which was brought to an end too quickly by Parkinson's disease.
