He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Ley and Esther Vander Ley (Vermeer); his siblings, George Vander Ley and Francis (Dave Hoekzema); and his parents-in-law, Richard and Ruth Kladder.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Vander Ley; his daughters, Laura (Steve Besser) and Julie (Dan Molenbeek); his grandchildren, Dylan Vander Ley, Natalie, Megan Molenbeek, Andrew, Kendra Besser and Nicolas Besser (Jessica Bross); his great grandchildren, Ava Besser, River Besser, Parker Besser and Hadley Besser; his siblings-in-law, Mary (John Hoeksema) and John (Chelli Kladder); and his sibling's children, Kara Vander Ley, Lindsey, John Wiley, Christine Hoekzema, Elizabeth, Mark VanderBoom, Andrea Hoekzema, Tina, Dan Schrenk, Katelyn, Skyler Eriks and Nolan Kladder.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the LaGrave Christian Reformed Church (107 La Grave Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 21st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church (107 La Grave Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503).
