He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold and Edith; his wife Joyce Ballast; his son Gary Ballast; his grandson Benjamin Ballast; his children-in-law, Karen Ballast, Annette Ballast and Allan Rietberg; his sister Beverly; and his siblings-in-law, Harvard Meyers, Kathy Ballast, Gordon, Barbara Longstreet and Yolanda Longstreet.

He is survived by: his friend Rod; his children, Douglas Ballast, Pamela Machiele (Robert), Julia Rietberg, Marvin Ballast (Holly), Curtis Ballast and Cynthia Miller (Mark); his brothers, Dan Ballast (Linda), Leon Ballast (Paula), Michael Ballast (Carolyn), Clifton Ballast, Bruce Ballast (Pat) and Jeff Ballast (Susan); his brother-in-law James Longstreet; and his friend Joyce. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
