He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert and Arlene; and his siblings, Betty, Lyle, Gilbert Jr., Maxine, Phyllis and William.

He is survived by: his children, James Philip Jr. (Jayme) of Grand Haven, Michigan. and Gwen Catt (Glen) of Charlevoix, Michigan.; his grandchildren, Olivia, Tanner, Gabrielle, Parker and Brokton; his great grandchildren, Reece, Scottlyn and Charlotte; his nephews, William, Joseph Green, James and Jason Grady; and his niece Kimberly Garvey-Cucciniello.
