He was predeceased by: his mother Joyce E. VanWestenburg (Timmer). He is survived by: his father John A. VanWestenburg; his wife Liz; his sisters, Laura Palmer (Pete Simmons), Glenna Sprague (Tom) and Claire Murchie (Steve); and his nephew Dale Sprague (Heather).
