Anita Reszke Obituary

Anita Reszke, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on May 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family in the same town where her story began on June 24, 1939. Her life was a tapestry woven with devotion, adventure, and the sweetest of memories, leaving behind a legacy that will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

Anita's journey commenced in the south end of Bay City, Michigan, where she was born to Stephen and Marie (Malinowski) Gorney. She blossomed into a kind-hearted individual, attending St. Hyacinth grade school followed by St. Stanislaus High School. At the young age of 19, her adventurous spirit led her to California with two friends, where she worked as a bank teller and embraced the West Coast life for a year. Upon her return to Bay City, a serendipitous dance led her into the arms of her sweet William, and they married on November 3, 1962. Their love story spanned 62 years and was filled with mutual respect, laughter, and an unwavering partnership.

Anita's life was further enriched by her beloved family. She is survived by her husband Bill; a daughter-in-law Cindy Kramer-Reszke, their sons, Steve (Deb) and Doug; and a daughter, Brenda (Dan) Schultz. She was a guiding star to her grandchildren Khai (Cody), Kelsi (Anthony), Drew (fiancée Adrianna), Gabrielle, Anthony, Nathan (Laura), Madeline, and Nolan, as well as her great-grandchild, Elijah Michael. Anita's warmth extended to her brother Rob (Pat) Gorney, her sisters and brothers-in-law Ron (Camille) Craven, Ken (Ardith) Reszke, and Martin Schwerin, and the many nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Marie, a son Mike, a brother Ron, a sister Ceil, and a niece Jill Lenhard.

For 21 years, Anita was a beloved school bus driver, a job she loved for the daily joy of seeing the children and watching them grow. Her nurturing spirit made her a favorite among the kids, and she often reflected on those years with the fondest of memories. In her 40s, Anita and Bill shared a passion for motorcycles, taking leisurely Sunday rides and even occasionally driving them to work, much to the delight of those who knew her for her spirited sense of fun.

Anita's zest for life took her on many travels, including seven treasured trips to Poland, exploring Germany, Austria, Switzerland, seven national parks, the Canadian Rockies, and numerous casino bus trips. She had an artist's touch when it came to crafting Easter chocolates, a tradition that sparked a playful rivalry among the children and grandchildren, each vying for the coveted title of receiving the most or the first basket.

Anita's life was an embodiment of love, a heart that never tired of giving, and hands that were always ready to comfort and create. The echoes of her laughter, the wisdom of her words, and the warmth of her embrace will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a woman of grace, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her family, who stands as a testament to a life well-lived and a love that never ends.

The family would like to thank Bayfield Assisted Living and Corso Care Hospice for all the care and support for Anita.
