Brian L. Knight Obituary

Brian, age 79 years, died Monday, September 29, 2025, at home with his family by his side. The son of the late Alfred and Helen (Cavis) Knight, he was born January 2, 1946, in Bay City.

In 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Ann Staudacher, who survived Brian by eight days, passing away on October 7, 2025. Brian is survived by three children: Paul Knight and his wife Janet of Kawkawlin, Gail Woolhiser and her husband Michael of Bay City, and Sara Keefe and her husband Bret of Petoskey, as well as grandchildren Nicole (Joey) Kardynal, Gregory (Claire) Knight, Kellen Woolhiser, Benjamin Keefe, Charles Keefe, Daniel Keefe, and Shane Keefe; sister Laurie (Jerry) Habedank; sister-in-law Carole Knight; brothers-in-law Jon (Kathy) Staudacher and Mark (Penny) Staudacher; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Barbara Haske and Frances Brewster, brother Thomas Knight, and nephew Patrick Reagh.

Brian graduated from T. L. Handy High School and Michigan State University. He spent most of his career woodworking and renovating homes through his business, Knight Home Improvement. He ultimately retired from Gougeon Brothers in 2006, where he was employed as a Technical Advisor for several years. He was also the principal builder of the iconic Friendship Ring fountain in Bay City's Wenonah Park.

After retirement, Brian continued to create beautiful pieces for his family and could usually be found working on a project in his shop. He also loved fishing, golfing, reading, gardening, traveling with friends and family, and enjoying the outdoors at his cabin in the woods. He was a devoted husband, an engaged father, and an immensely proud grandpa who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren above all else.

Brian's family will receive family and friends at Rivertown Funeral Chapel, 209 S. Huron Road, Kawkawlin, on Sunday, October 26, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

As per Brian's request, there will be no memorial service. Those wishing to express their sympathies may consider donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Toni & Trish Hospice House in Bay County.
