In Loving Memory of Darlene Mabel Hanchett, April 26, 1938 – August 1, 2026Darlene Mabel Hanchett, age 88, peacefully fell asleep in death surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 26, 1938, to Ernest and Alice Buecking, who preceded her in death. Darlene grew up on Mary Street in Flushing, Michigan, where she made many cherished childhood memories.
On April 6, 1956, she married the love of her life, Duane Hanchett. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, love, laughter, and family. Their marriage was a wonderful example of devotion, and they shared many happy years together until Duane's passing.
On July 22, 1973, Darlene dedicated her life to Jehovah God, a decision that became the foundation of her life. Her faith shaped the way she loved, cared for others, and faced life's joys and challenges with hope and conviction. She found comfort in God's promises and eagerly looked forward to the fulfillment of. His Kingdom, sharing that hope with her family and all who knew her.
Darlene's greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind six beloved children: Dan ("her Danny") and his wife Diana; Doug ("her rock") and his wife Laurie; Dean ("her toe head") and his wife Cheryl; Dawn Marie ("her first girl") and her husband Donny; Debi ("her Debi Sue") and her husband Mark; and Danette ("her Netsie Lynn") and her husband Josh.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Sam (Janelle), Isaac (Shannon), Greg (Lindsey), Katie (Bobby), Lucas, Waya, Eric (Erika), Justin (Holly), Jessica (Nathan), Kayla (Ben), Zach (Brooke), Caleb (Savannah), Alexus (Skylor), and Noah. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her tremendous happiness.
Darlene had many gifts and interests. She loved playing the piano, singing, performing in high school plays, bird watching, playing hand and foot, working on puzzles, tending flowers, sewing, crocheting, and was well known as a fierce ping pong player. She found beauty in the simple things and joy in sharing them with those she loved.
More than anything, Darlene was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her children were her greatest treasure, and there was nothing she loved more than hearing the laughter of her family. She was a loyal friend, a kind and compassionate woman, and someone whose quick wit and wonderful sense of humor brightened every room she entered. Her gentle heart, unwavering love, and steadfast faith have left a legacy that will live on through generations.
Though her family will miss her dearly, they find comfort and hope in God's promise of a resurrection and eagerly look forward to the day they will welcome Darlene and her beloved Duane again in Paradise on earth.
A celebration of Darlene's life is being planned, and details will be shared with family and friends when arrangements are complete.
Darlene's love was a gift beyond measure. She will be forever cherished, forever remembered, and forever loved.
