Debby M. Bragiel Obituary
Debby M. Bragiel, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025 with her family by her side. Born on August 3, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joseph & Shirley Christensen.
Debby graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1973. She was a florist for over four decades at Smiths and Batschke's. Even after retiring, Debby continued to share her talents with the community, joining the freight team at Home Depot and exploring new horizons as a travel agent with Lazy Dayz Travel. Her work ethic and dedication to her craft were admired by all who knew her.
Debby's passion for gardening allowed her to nurture life in all its forms. Her sewing skills were a testament to her patience and attention to detail. She was also an avid volunteer, giving her time selflessly to causes dear to her heart and always ready to lend a helping hand.
Her love for watching her children and grandchildren's sporting events was unparalleled. Whether cheering from the sidelines or celebrating their victories at home, she was their most ardent supporter. Debby's enthusiasm for rock collecting took her on many adventures, and her famous monster cookies were a beloved treat that brought warmth and sweetness to family gatherings. "The Littles" described her as: superb, creative, loving, and passionate. "The Bigs" described her as: supportive, faithful, unwavering, caring, selfless, creative, true, and a badass.
Debby's legacy is carried on by her loving children, Brandon (Shannon) Bragiel, Melissa (Chris) Courier, Crystal (Jeff) Painter, Jessica (Mat) Wieland, and Justin (fiancée Amber Smith) Bragiel, grandchildren, Jordan (Rebekah) Bragiel, Dalton Hartshorn, Joseph and Reid Courier, Aiden, Andrew, Ainsley Painter, Matisin, Eli, and Nina Wieland. She is also survived by her siblings, Ed (Kathy) Christensen, Lori (Stan) Barcia, Janelle Milkowski, and in-laws, Dale Bragiel, Jan Bragiel, Ruth Bragiel, Ken (Vicky) Bragiel, Gary (Carol) Bragiel, and Sue (Kent) Bertilson, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Debby was preceded in death by her husband; Dennis J. Bragiel, father and mother in law; Raymond & Kathleen Bragiel, brother in law; Larry Bragiel, and nephew Scott Bragiel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 7:00 pm at Rivertown Funeral Chapel with Deacon Mike Arnold presiding. Friends and family may visit at the chapel from 1:00 pm until time of service.
