Edward J. McKenna Obituary
Edward John McKennaEdward John McKenna entered the world on September 23, 1944 and departed on June 13, 2026. In all of his 81 years, he never met a stranger and would have a story or a joke ready to entertain.
He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to Margaret (Barrett) and Stephen McKenna and immigrated to the United States as a child. Ed joined the Navy in 1962 and proudly served during the Vietnam conflict. He met and married Connie (Watson) in 1968 and they raised their two children Shaun and Kelly, in Linwood Michigan where they spent 55 years together. Ed retired from Merrill Technologies Group as a journeyman electrician and then spent his days gardening, puttering around in his garage, reading and traveling with Connie. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his jokes, his faith and most of all, his love for his family. Ed is survived by his wife Connie, son Shaun (Pam) McKenna, daughter Kelly McKenna, granddaughter Bree Hughes, sister Fran McKenna and nephews Steven (Abby) Diegel, Scott McKenna, Chris Diegel and Ken Diegel. Ed is now reunited with family who passed before him: his parents Steve and Margaret McKenna and brother Mike McKenna.
Special thanks and recognition go to Kim Wallace and Cindy Foor, who gave selflessly of their time to make sure that Ed could visit Connie at Huron Woods after he could no longer drive safely. The family would like to thank the staff at Bayfield Assisted Living and Memory Care for their wonderful care, and the Covenant At Home staff for their loving and compassionate hospice support.
