Gay M. Campbell Obituary

Gay Mina Campbell (McCollum), age 83, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at Covenant Medical Center with her loving family by her side.

She was born on October 21, 1942, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Lafe and Mina McCollum. Gay lived a life marked by devotion, kindness, and quiet strength, and she will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving and spirited woman whose presence brought warmth and comfort to those around her.

Gay married the love of her life, Michael "Mike" Campbell, on November 6, 1965. Together they shared 60 years of dedicated devotion to one another, building a life rooted in love, family, and steadfast companionship. Their marriage was a true partnership, and the bond they shared was evident to everyone who had the privilege of knowing them. Through the years, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and the simple joys of life together.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Mike; her two children, Carol Campbell and Peter Campbell and his wife Kimberly; her precious granddaughter, Rebecca Taylor and her husband Bryan; her two great-grandsons, Hazen and Evan; and her beloved dog, ShyAnn. Gay treasured her family deeply, and she found great joy in the time she spent with them. Her love extended naturally and generously to each generation, and her family will forever carry the memory of her gentle spirit and unwavering care.

Gay was preceded in death by her parents, Lafe and Mina McCollum; her two sisters, Priscilla, known lovingly as Sis, and Jill; and her five brothers, Junior, Osgood, Lon, Ralph, and Forrest, affectionately called Bub. She held the memory of her family close to her heart throughout her life, and the ties of love and remembrance remained important to her always.

A woman of many interests, Gay was an avid gardener who took great pride in keeping her flower beds in pristine condition. She found joy and peace in tending to her garden, where her care and patience were reflected in every bloom. She also enjoyed cooking and was always eager to try new recipes, bringing creativity and warmth to the kitchen. In addition, she had a deep interest in genealogy, puzzles, and reading, and she spent many evenings immersed in books and watching true crime shows. These quiet pleasures were part of the rhythm of her life and reflected her thoughtful and curious nature.

Those who knew Gay will remember her for her loving heart, her spirited personality, and her steadfast devotion to the people and things she cherished. She had a way of making others feel welcomed and valued, and her presence left a lasting impression on family and friends alike. Her life was one of enduring love, faithful commitment, and simple joys well lived.

Per Gay's request cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Rivertown Funeral Chapel.
