Gordon Daniel CascianoGordon Casciano, the cherished son of Brad Casciano and Marybeth (Savage) Casciano, passed away on February 23, 2026, at U of M Hospital. He was born on January 2, 2022, at McLaren Flint Hospital, Gordon's infectious smile and boundless curiosity brightened the lives of all who knew him. He was the pride and joy of his doting grandparents, Kathy (John) Fryzel, Rod (Rochelle) Savage, Phillip (Eileen) Casciano, and Myra (Fred) Shallenberger. Great Grandma Norma Schingeck held a special place in her heart for Gordon, as he did for her. Throughout his life, Gordon was surrounded by the love and laughter of his aunts and uncles: Lorilynn (Phillip) Trujillo, Michelle (Michael) Groulx, Kelly (Josh) Ballard, Jeff (Cacee) Fryzel, Matt (Sabrina) Savage, Elyssa Mersdorf, Cori (Kaleb) Gonzales, Chelsea (Derek) Titus, Angie (Matt) Snell, Kyler, Raven, and Jor-el Shallenberger, Jennifer Stachnik, and Julianne Baldiga. His cousins Jordan, Kaylei, Kyle, Grace, Jones, Easton, Brady, Rowan, Austin, and Keyara found in Gordon not just a cousin, but a true friend and playmate.
Though Gordon's time with us was far too short, the depth of the bonds he formed and the joy he spread are timeless. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be treasured eternally. Gordon Casciano's spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, as we hold him close in our hearts, now and always. Our amazing, loving, handsome, and funny boy gave nothing but light from the moment he came into this world. Not one person who met him didn't instantly love him. He had a contagious personality, a heart larger than life, and a spirit that could light up any room or day, no matter what. His light will forever shine greater than we can even begin to explain. Curious, adventurous, and full of joy, Gordon loved being outside—digging in the sand, jumping in mud puddles, and helping around the yard. He was happiest playing with his monster trucks, playing with his Magna Tiles, and having Mommy and Daddy read him his favorite books. He loved sprinkles on everything and needed his toast topped with candy just the way he liked it. His very best friends were his beloved dogs, Stella, Barney and Max, who were always by his side. Gordon gave others the gift of life. Even in this unimaginable darkness, he is still shining. Because of Gordon, lives will be saved. That is who he is. A hero. A giver. Pure love. We are forever grateful for the first responders from Montrose, the dedicated Hurley Medical team, and the incredible team in the PICU at U of M. The compassion, care, and dignity they showed Gordon — and our entire family — will never be forgotten. Gordon always noticed the sunshine. He would say, "The sun has woke up," with excitement when it peeked through the clouds. So when the sunlight breaks through, know that it is Gordon saying hello. Somehow, there is peace in knowing this is how he would have wanted to go — on a cold, snowy day, when he would much rather be outside. Gordon's light will live on—in the lives he saved, in the sunshine that breaks through the clouds, and in every heart that was blessed to know him. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, at 7 pm from Rivertown Funeral Chapel with family sharing. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 3 pm until time of sharing. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Gift of Life Foundation so they may donate in Gordon's honor.
