Kimberly L. Vuocolo Obituary

In Loving Memory of Kimberly L. VuocoloIt is with a heartbreak that words could never fully express that we announce the passing of our beloved Kimberly L. Vuocolo.

Kimberly was so much more than the titles she carried throughout her life. She was a mother, a partner, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a confidante, and a safe place for so many. But to those fortunate enough to truly know her, she was simply Kim and there will never be another person quite like her.

Kim had a way of making the people she loved feel like they mattered. She was the one who showed up. The one who worried about everyone else, even when she had many worries of her own. She listened, she cared, she protected, she forgave way too much, and she loved with her entire heart. If someone she loved needed her, somehow she always found a way to be there.

Her family was her world. She loved fiercely, worried endlessly, gave generously, and would have done absolutely anything for the people she called hers. Her love wasn't always found in grand gestures. It was in the phone calls, the conversations, the laughter, the worrying, the checking in, the memories made around a table, the ordinary days that none of us realized would someday become the moments we would give anything to have back. Kim was also wonderfully herself. She had a personality you couldn't forget, a sense of humor that could make an ordinary moment memorable, and a presence that filled a room. She could make you laugh when you didn't want to laugh, tell you exactly what she thought, and love you through every version of yourself. There are people in this world whose absence changes everything.

Kimberly was one of those people.

Losing her has left an emptiness in our family that cannot be put into words. There are a thousand things we already want to tell her. A thousand times we will instinctively reach for the phone. A thousand future moments when we will look for her face in the room before remembering that she isn't physically there. But we find comfort in believing that Kim's final journey was not one she had to make alone. We imagine her reaching Heaven and being met by the people she had missed for so long with her mom, her dad, and her brother Jimmy waiting for her on the other side. We imagine the kind of reunion that makes Heaven feel a little closer of familiar faces, open arms, tears replaced by joy, and all the time apart suddenly disappearing. And above all, we imagine Jesus welcoming her home. For those of us left here, saying goodbye feels impossible. So perhaps this isn't goodbye.

Perhaps it is simply: We love you.

We miss you already.

And we will see you again.

Kimberly's life cannot be measured by the number of years she was here, but by the love she left behind. That love exists in her family, in her friends, in every story that will continue to be told, and in every person who is a little different because they were fortunate enough to know her. Her chair may be empty. Her phone may no longer ring. Her voice may now live in our memories. But the place she holds within this family will never belong to anyone else.

We will speak her name. We will tell her stories. We will laugh about the things only Kim would say or do. We will carry her with us through birthdays, holidays, milestones, ordinary Tuesdays, and every moment when we desperately wish she were here. And someday, when the grief isn't quite as sharp, we hope the tears will begin to come with smiles, because having someone worth missing this much means we were blessed with someone worth loving this much.

Kimberly L. Vuocolo was deeply loved in this life, she will be deeply missed for the rest of ours, and she will never, ever be forgotten.
