Mitchell Blanchard Obituary
Mitchell William Joseph Blanchard (Mick) 83 passed away peacefully on September 12th, 2026 with family at his bedside. Mick was born on August 23rd, 1943 in Standish, Michigan to John Franklin Blanchard and Beatrice Alma Rabadue. Mick is one of 5 children. He is survived by sister Daisy Sanders. He is predeceased by Bea Shook (sister), brother in law Harley Shook, brothers John Blanchard and Stewart Blanchard, brother in law Martin Sanders, and nephew Bud Winchell (Lori Winchell). John and Beatrice Blanchard later adopted 2 more children, Earl Blanchard who survived him and Harold Blanchard who predeceased him. He married the love of his life Louise McMann on July 2nd, 1966 in Brown City's Evangelical United Brethren Church. Mick was a member of the Foundation Church formally Kawkawlin Community Church and served as head usher for many years. He was a truck driver for Duro Supply and Aga gas. Mick enjoyed his 1955 Ford Crown Victoria, attending many car shows over the years with his car club. His greatest joy was camping at Silver Lake Sand Dunes with his jeep, spending many summers with family and friends, enjoying Lake Michigan sunsets and evening campfires. He loved bowling, Nascar, and Coin Collecting. He also loved to travel, where he embarked on numerous cruises. Mick and Louise spent the last 17 years of retirement in Florida for the winter. In their community, they met many new amazing friends with lasting bonds that feel like family. Mick and Louise were involved in organizing many social events in their community and were known for their joy of dancing. Mick was known for sharing his time and talents with family and friends. He was a devoted family man who gave tirelessly to his children and grandchildren. He was a proud father supporting his son Bill with his bowling career and his daughter Tami with her equestrian competitions.
Mick is survived by his wife of 60 years. Louise Blanchard (McMann), son Bill and daughter in law Fran Blanchard, daughter Tamara Hock, grandchildren Ryan Blanchard and fiancé Veronica Rosinski, Jenna Blanchard and fiancé Joshua Coenen, Charli Hock, and Cali Hock. He was a devoted loving foster care parent was a good mentor and role model for many children over the years. He had special bonds with several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to all of the staff at AdvisaCare Hospice for the sincere care of Mick and the assistance and support for Louise in the past months.
Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memoriesFuneral service will be on Saturday September 19, 2026 at Noon at Rivertown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Morris presiding. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10am till time of service.
