He was predeceased by: his father Robert H. Hompstead; and his sister Esther M. Emry. He is survived by: his wife Lila M.; his sons, James Hompstead (Christine Christie) of Saint Johns, Timothy Hompstead of Bay City and Todd Hompstead of Joliet; his granddaughters, Kirsten Hompstead, McKayla Hompstead, Haley Hompstead and Celeste Hompstead; and his close friend Sheri Kuch.
