Robert J. DeShaw Obituary
Robert Joseph DeShaw, 67, of Kawkawlin, MI, passed away peacefully with his loved ones by his side, on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Henry Ford Hospital. He was born February 2, 1958, in Bay City, MI, to the late Herman & Lillian (Goulet) DeShaw. Robert held various positions in his lifetime field career working for the family business - Bailer & DeShaw. Robert, often known as "Bob" or "Bobby D", will be remembered for his one-of-a-kind sense of humor, selflessness, heart of gold, strength, and sense of adventure.
He enjoyed spending his time Up North with friends & family, particularly at his family cabin in Vanderbilt, Michigan. He found joy in life in many ways, but the ones he held dear to his heart include hunting, tinkering in the garage, listening to music, exploring the woods, taking his car to shows, family gatherings, watching the news, reading the newspaper, drinking hot coffee; but most of all- spending time with his loved ones. He is and will forever be remembered for making light and creating humor even in the hardest times, bringing a smile to anyone's face as well as his strength to keep going always.
Robert is survived by his two children: Dean DeShaw (Danielle Dubay) and Lauren (Kyle) Arquette;. His 9 beautiful grandchildren that were the apple of his eye and that he loved more than they could ever imagine: John (16), Zander (14), Amaya (10), Owen (10), Brooklyn (5), Carson (4), Adelina (3), Oaklee (2), Daniel (4 mos.); Lifelong friend and mother of his children Sue (Dean) DeShaw; and siblings Ken DeShaw, Grace (Paul) Wilner, and Mike (Victoria) DeShaw. He also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews: Lindsey (Jacob) Wilner, Brooke Wilner, Kyle (Anne) DeShaw, Kendra (Tim) Klemm, Kori (Alek) Poirier, Kayla (Jake) Wood, and James (Katherine) DeShaw. Extended nieces and nephews who are also dear to his heart: Brad (Lisa) Eddy, Brent Eddy, Cody Eddy, Cassy (Brad) Lederer. He is preceded in death by his father Herman J. DeShaw, Mother Lillian M. DeShaw, cousins Diane Sylvester, Tom Brown, Chris Brown, and Randy Waibel, Aunt Delores "Dee" Brown, and best friend Tim Eddy.
Funeral service will be on Friday June 13, 2025 at 5pm at Rivertown Funeral Chapel. Visitation will take place from 2 pm till time of service.
