He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Spencer and Mary Spencer (Nichols); and his siblings, David Spencer (Karen), Wayne Spencer and Mary Spencer (Roy Wilson).

He is survived by: his wife Tina Spencer (Jajo); his children, Angeline Loos (Ryan), Van Jr. Spencer (Jamie), Michael Spencer and Amber Causley (Matthew); and his siblings, Sally Wilson, Anna Spencer and Richard Spencer (Jeannie). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
