He was predeceased by: his parents, August Schaner and Rose Schaner (Stolp); his wife Bonnie Frances Elliott; his stepfather Clayton Twiss; his siblings, August, Don, Lewis, Tommy, Marian, Lorraine, Katherine, Doris, Betty and Ruth; and his pet Freedom.
He is survived by: his children, Bonnie Susan Zerrenner, Richard Schaner (Kathy) and David Schaner (Bev); his grandchildren, Chrystal Schaner Lobdell and David Eli Schaner; his great grandchildren, Bobby, Summer, Elliott and Rosie; his brother Russell Schaner; and his sister-in-law Maxine Schaner. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers donation in Richard's honor to Michigan Veterans Homes Grand Rapids would be appreciated.
