He was predeceased by: his parents, Olga Downing (Williams) and Robert Downing. He is survived by: his sons, Russell Lee Downing (Pressy) and Ronald Joseph Downing (Kari); his wife Dianne Derhammer; his family, Nicole Sue Downing (Harris), Robert Scott Miller and Julie Sue Miller (Matamoros); his daughters, Nicole Harris (Downing) and Julie-Matamoros (Raphael); his grandchildren, Angela Murray, Kimberly Smith Ashlee (Doug), Allie Downing Aaliyah Harris (Dominique), Aaron Harris Airik Harris (Destiny), Chris Miller Brandon (Heather), Ryan Downing Dallas Downing (Ross Downing (Lucia)) and Danielle Downing; and his siblings, Judy Harvey and Ken Downing. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, And great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Wyoming M. K. D. Funeral Home (4031 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49509).
