He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Merrell and Reba Merrell; and his parents-in-law, Carl, Lucille Cossey, Macel Baggett, Doyle Cossey and Justin Beavers.
He is survived by: his children, Kevin Merrell (Debra) and Angela Barner; his grandchildren, Nathaniel Merrell, Grace Barner (Cory Stejskal), Andrew Barner and Abigail Merrell; his siblings, Calvin Merrell (Patsy) and Virgie Halter (William); his parents-in-law, Arnold Cossey, Patsy Isom (Randal), Bill Cossey (Glenda), Betty Hambright (Marty), Doris Chase (Larry) and Alton Cossey; and his nephew Keith Halter. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews.
