He was predeceased by: his parents, Dale Lyon and Jean Lyon (Ridge); and his brother Terry. He is survived by: his wife Janice (Hoffman); his sons, Michael (Christy) and Mark (Sarah); his grandchildren, Alex, Mariella and Isaac; and his sisters, Jan Nichols (Tom) and Cheryl Jelenek (Terry).

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Empire Untied Methodist Church (10050 W Michigan St, Empire, MI 49630). A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Memorial donations can be made in Bill's name to the Michigan Masonic Lodge in Alma, Michigan, or the Empire United Methodist Church.
