He was predeceased by: his former wife Sharon VanLeeuwen; his parents, Eleanor VanLeeuwen and Gerrit VanLeeuwen; his brothers, Randy and Kenny VanLeeuwen; and his brother-in-law Alvin Devries.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Anna VanLeeuwen; his stepchildren, Jim, Hillary Van Leeuwen, Geoff, Kristen VanLeeuwen, Betsy VanLeeuwen, Sandy, Kelly VanBrouwer, Heather, Cole Laughlin, David, Margret Petitpas, Gabe and Mariah Ruell; and his grandchildren, Kyah, Norah, Natalie, Elaina, Grant, Abigail, Liana, Asher, Lillian, Vivian, Felix, Zell and Linken. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Tap House N.. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the LaGrave CRC Church (107 La Grave Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions be made to a local food pantry in your area to help provide Christmas dinners.
