She was predeceased by: her parents, James Boven and Hattie Boven (Workman); her husband Donald Leroy Smith; her siblings, Harold Boven and Freda Boven; her daughter Jeanne Vella-Pavia; her grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Angelika and Carey Vella; and her brother-in-law Dave Burton.
She is survived by: her children, Jeff Smith (Teresa) of Grayling, Lesley Hicks (Rob Jensen) of Evart, Karen Smith of Las Vegas, NV, Brenda Smith (Susan Manis) of Jacksonville and Donald V Smith (Daniel Blaha) of Milwaukee; her sister Jenny Burton of Grand Rapids; and her son-in-law Jerry Pavia of Caro. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
