Ilona Messner Obituary
We are sad to announce that on March 13, 2024, at the age of 84, Ilona Messner (Lake Linden, Michigan) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by : her parents, Pentti Makkonen and Ellen Makkonen (Moilanen); her stepfather Willard Alcenius; and her brother Gary. She is survived by : her husband Russell E. Messner of John's Lutheran Church; her sons, Craig (Marcy) of Tamarack, Scott of Washington, Chris (Won Hee) of Tamarack and Kyle (Amanda) of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Shannon Karpinen (Dylan), Hailey Lambert (Kenneth), Olivia, Shaneva, Samantha, Scott, Jr., Jorja, Miranda, Lauren, Megan and Wynter; her great grandchildren, Aubrey, Emmalynn, Leila, Talia, Gunner, Teddylynn, Lincoln and Amara; her sister Charlotte Leinonen (George); her niece Jodi; her nephew Cory; and her sisters-in-law, Ruth and Dorothy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint John's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
