It is with sadness that the passing of Alvino D. Vela Jr. of Lansing, Michigan is shared. Alvino, born on December 31, 1941, passed away on September 19, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvino Vela and Asuncion Vela Sr. (Diaz); his wife Otila Vela; and his siblings, Charles Vela, Rosa Castillo and Octavia Lopez.
He is survived by: his children, Sylvia Herman (Kenneth), Dan Vela, Gloria Martinez (Fernando), Thomas Vela (Joan) and Juanita Vela; his grandson Alex Vela; and his sister-in-law Maria Ninfa Hernandez. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Cristo Rey Catholic Church (201 W Miller Rd, Lansing, MI 48911). A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Memorial Luncheon Sep.
