It is with sadness that the passing of JoAnn Root (Lansing, Michigan) is shared. JoAnn, born on February 7, 1950, passed away on October 14, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Schafer and Ada Schafer (Durant). She is survived by: her children, Darcy Ianni (Dario) of Ann Arbor and Dan Root (Erin) of Holt; her grandchildren, Renato, River and Abigail; her siblings, Linda Schafer of Lansing and Jack Schafer of Naples, Florida; and her nephew Ryan Schafer of Naples, Florida..
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes- Holt Chapel (5035 W Holt Rd, Holt, MI 48842). A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens (4444 W Grand River Ave, Lansing, MI 48906).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in JoAnn's name may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, the Ingham County Animal Shelter, or the American Cancer Society.
