He was predeceased by: his mother Ethel Halas (Shilaker); his wife Marilyn Kroger; and his close friend Orie Bashore. He is survived by: his father Anton Halas; his daughters, Kathryn Wardwell (Matthew) and Karen Halas (John Greenburg); his grandchildren, Jonathan, Maranda and Dale Wardwell; his son-in-law Forrest Tyler; and his pet Skylar.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society or the Disabled Veterans National Foundation.
