He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert S. Totten Sr. and Burlie L. Ottgen (Doss); his daughter Elke Louise Totten; his stepfather Don L. Ottgen Sr.; and his brother James W. Totten Sr. (Sonny).

He is survived by: his wife Ingeborg W. Totten; his daughter Elisabeth Louise Elke Cook (Eric Cook); his grandchildren, Elisa Dalana Cook and Evan Keith Loren Cook; his daughter Christina Marie Totten; and his siblings, Albert S. Totten Jr. (Bobbi), Wanda S. Rowley (Mike) and Don L. Ottgen Jr. (Pam). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
