He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Geraldine Schafer (Streng) and Richard Schafer of Beal City; his significant other Stacy Veit of Rosebush; his children, Chloe, Lansing, Isaac and Sophia; and his caregivers, Mel, Karen, Kathy and Vice. He was also cherished by his loving Wife, Children, Siblings, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and countless amazing friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, April 25th 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A rosary was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home (305 Sixth St, Traverse City, MI 49684). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the St. Francis Catholic Church (1025 S Union St, Traverse City, MI 49684).
