He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon and Adelia; his son Leon Kenneth; and his siblings, Stanley "Red", Norman, Bessie Flint, Kathryn Turscak, Leona Kern, Mary Conant, Lorena Carr and Edith Provost.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Johnson; his children, Terry Lynn Steward (Jeffrey) and Larry Lewis Johnson; his grandchildren, Leon Steward, Anthony Steward, Kevin Steward, Tabatha Schuler and Larry Johnson Jr.; his great grandchildren, Autumn Johnson, Lena Schuler, Hunter Schuler, Dylan Johnson, Justin Ostrom-Steward, Damon Ostrom-Steward, Aubrey Steward and Noah Steward; his friend Donnie Wayne Miller; and his nephew Ken Provost.
