He was predeceased by: his parents, N. Ernest Fanson and Lois Fanson (Dutton); and his former wife Evelyn Fanson. He is survived by: his wife Ruth; his children, Kurt Fanson, Kent Fanson, Craig Fanson, Mike May, Mark May, Kelly May, Chris May (Linda) and Kerrie May; and his grandchildren, Amanda Minkler (Chad), Erick Fanson (Alyssa), Dane Fanson, Ashley Fanson, Tyler Fanson and Devlin May. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the youth performance and confidence building: 3rd Degree Burns band, a young musician's community.
