Christopher J. Matthies Obituary

Christopher J. Matthies of Lawton passed away Friday July 11, 2025 at Bronson Methodist Hospital at age 73. Christopher was born August 20, 1951 in Kalamazoo the son of William and Wilma (Wigginton) Matthies. He graduated from Portage Northern High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was an avid hunter/fisherman his whole life, loved old cars, tractor pulls, roller coasters, westerns, and his family. In 1986 in Gobles, Christopher was united in marriage to Pamela (Grimm) Matthies who preceded him in death in 2004. Also preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Scott Matthies. Surviving are three brothers; Steve, Rick and Mitch Matthies, four children; William Matthies, Chadrick (Darcy) Matthies, Mike White, Bridgette (Shawn) Meyle; eight grandchildren; Dominic, Carter, Cordelia, Drew Matthies, Christopher, Gabe White, Reegan, Issac Meyle; several nieces & nephews.
