A private family service will be held in the future. Don will be laid to rest at Genessee Prairie Cemetery, Oshtemo Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators, in c/o the funeral home.
Donald J. Boyer age 82 of Lawton passed away Sunday morning, March 8, 2026. Don was born in Kalamazoo on September 19, 1943, the son of Lester Edwin and Winifred (Weston) Boyer. On February 6, 1971, he married Rita Jean Gruizenga who preceded him in death in 2020. Rita was his crown jewel and he missed her terribly after her death. They had almost been married 50 years when she passed away. Don was a great sportsman. He loved fishing, hunting and bowling. He loved hanging out with son, and other friends and relatives at the "Taj Mahal," his hunting camp. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling corny jokes. Ever the positive person, Don was always welcoming of those who would take the time to come see him. His family was very important to him and he loved spending time with them. Don is survived by his children Ronna (James) Bonneau, Marc Boyer and Troy (Angel) Boyer; grandchildren Matthew (Ashley Marie) Williamson, Amanda (Lance) Altvater, Keri (Tony Snead) Stover, Kayle Boyer, Hannah Boyer, Cameron Boyer, Ashley (Brandon) Byrd, Cassie (Doug) Bainbridge; great grandchildren, Leah, Mason, Avery, Harper, Addison, Grayson, Caden, Lucas, Gabriel; sister, Gloria DuMouchel; nieces and nephews; and many friends. Besides his wife, Don was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
