He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Vandendries and Irma Vandendries (Downer); his wife Debra Kotlark; his son-in-law Tom Leamy; his brother Jerry Vandendries; and his brother-in-law Dennis Wise.

He is survived by: his children, Chrissandra Leamy (Craig Karpinen), James Vandendries (Shelly) and Joseph Vandendries (Tiffanie); his grandchildren, Riley, Austin "Buster" (Jordyn), Connor "Sparky", Lily "Princess", Nickolas "Bubba" and Alyssa "Punkin"; his brother Joseph Vandendries; his sister-in-law Tammy Borowitz (Mark); and his close friend Jerry "Muggins" Mowen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
