He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Isaac Sylvester Byard and Juanita Mae Herscher; his son David Byard; his sisters, Edna Rosebaum, Betty Spierling and Pauline Steele; his grandson Isaiah Strong; and his son-in-law Bob Strong.
He is survived by: his wife Leona Mae O'Neal; his children, Cindy Strong Seifken (Ray), Curt Byard (Sharon McLeod), Sandi Thompson (Tom), Daun Vancil (Vick), Ken Byard (Dana) and Tami Brookins (Philip); his grandchildren, Jaimee, Seth, Kassia, Philip, Aimee, Brett, Nicollette, Ryley, Hannah, Noelle, Jadi, Miranda, Brendon, Logan, Sterling and Hope; and his brother Jerry Herscher. He is also survived by step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Bliss Missionary Church (15 E Sturgeon Bay Trail, Levering, MI 49755). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
