Gary Charbonneau Obituary

Gary Charbonneau, born on February 4, 1961, in Bay City, Michigan, passed away on April 14, 2026, in Linwood, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, friendliness, and quiet devotion to the people and pastimes he loved.

Gary was a man whose gentle spirit and warm presence were felt by those fortunate enough to know him. He carried himself with a steady, caring nature and had a way of making others feel welcome and at ease. His family and friends will remember him as someone who met life with sincerity and good humor, and who found joy in simple pleasures and familiar routines.

He was an avid stock car fan and could often be found following the excitement of the track with great interest. Gary also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and spent many hours enjoying cooking shows, finding comfort and entertainment in the familiar voices and scenes that brought him pleasure. These interests reflected the easygoing and appreciative way he approached life, valuing both excitement and the comfort of everyday traditions.

Gary is survived by his brother, Raymond Charbonneau; his brother-in-law, Neil Sylvester; and his nieces and nephews, Jenny and Chad Messinger, Melissa and Steve Sylvester, Jason and Cassey Sylvester, Trisha and Mark Charbonneau-Ivey, and Krystle and Williams Charbonneau-Mercades. He also leaves behind his great-niece and great-nephew, Penelope and Robert Sylvester, who brought added joy to his family circle.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Sylvester; his brother, Randy Charbonneau; and his parents, Robert and Arlene Charbonneau, née Bodrie. Their memory remained an important part of his life, and he carried those family bonds with him throughout the years.

Funeral mass will be on Thursday April 23, 2026 at 11am at Prince of Peace -Linwood with Fr. Pentice Tipton presiding with burial at St. Anne Cemetery Linwood. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10am till time of mass at the church .
