Louise M. Smith, a beacon of kindness and love who lived a spirited life, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, in Linwood, Michigan, at the age of 77. Born on February 3, 1948, in Bay City, Michigan, Louise's early years were filled with the warmth and camaraderie of a large, close-knit family.
As the cherished wife of Paul Smith, Louise's marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they nurtured a family of remarkable individuals, including their children Stephen (Holli) Smith, Sarah (Todd) Bublitz, and Nicholas Smith. Louise's joy multiplied with the arrival of each grandchild: Evan (Haley), Kiley, Hunter (Paige), Brendan, Dylan, Sawyer, Annabelle, and Dawson. Expecting the birth of her great-grandchild, Kasen, in February.
Louise's siblings, Char (Bob) Jenkins, Wayne (Denise) Smith, Richard (Jo) Arnett, Ann Prime, and Carl Smith, shared in the many adventures and milestones that colored her life. Her parents, Harry and Ellen Arnett, instilled in her the values of compassion and resilience, traits that she carried with her until her final days. Louise was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Char Smith, and brother-in-law, Dean Prime, both of whom she remembered fondly.
A life-long resident of Michigan, Louise found great pleasure in the simple things. She enjoyed spending winters in the sunny climes of Florida, a stark contrast to her Michigan roots. Louise was an avid sailor, feeling most at peace when gliding across the waves with the wind in her sails. Her passion for sailing was only matched by her love for the Detroit Tigers, whose games she watched with unyielding enthusiasm.
Louise's legacy is one of warmth and unwavering positivity. Those who knew her often remarked on her kind nature, her loving heart, and the spirited energy she brought to every room she entered. Her laughter was infectious, her smile a source of comfort, and her generosity knew no bounds.
Throughout her life, Louise was a pillar of strength for her family and friends. Her guidance was gentle, yet firm, encouraging those she loved to pursue their dreams with vigor. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Funeral service will be on Thursday September 25, 2025 at 6pm at Rivertown Funeral Chape with cremation to follow. Visitation will be on Thursday from 12pm till time of service.
