It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Diane Ruth Herman (Livonia, Michigan), who passed away on April 13, 2026, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis Garver and Joan Garver; her husband Fred Herman; her siblings, Richard Garver (Susan) and Cathy Mertz (Tom); and her brother-in-law Douglas Reschke.
She is survived by: her siblings, Maryann Reschke (late Doug), Carolyn Cappy (Garth) and Gerald Garver (Julie); her siblings-in-law, Susan and Tom; and her nieces and nephews, Jessica Van Valkenburgh (Wade), Jason Reschke (Raquel), Rachel Risso (Olly), Gill, Grant Cappy (Ellie), Andrew Garver, Ava Garver, Ashley Bermeo (Rafael), Joshua Garver and Chloe Mertz. She is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.
Memorial contributions in Diane's honor may be made to Detroit Public Television or to the Redford and Mesquite Public Libraries, organizations that reflect her lifelong love of media, storytelling, and learning.
