With sadness, we share the passing of Iulia Alexandra Kovari (Livonia, Michigan). Iulia, born on January 17, 1955, passed away on July 30, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Iulia for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While she will be deeply missed, the influence she had on the lives around her remains. Loved ones will reflect on the time spent together. Iulia’s memory will live on in the hearts of friends and family, a lasting reminder of the connections and experiences she brought to the world.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Ilie Todirica and Constanța Constantin; her husband Dr. Ladislau Kovari; and her siblings, Marius Todirica and Cosette Todirica. She was also cherished by her family, friends.
She subsequently joined Wayne State University as a senior research scientist, where she collaborated with her husband, Dr. Ladislau Kovari, on research to develop antiviral therapies for HIV, hepatitis C, and, more recently, SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
