He was predeceased by: his parents, John McCarthy and Brigid McCarthy. He is survived by: his friend John McCarthy; his siblings, Mary, Bridie, Matt, Jim, Frank and Mike; his uncle Dan; his aunt Margaret Murphy; his wife Mary; his daughters, Anne Murray (William), Geraldine Dillon (Kevin) and Colleen Janosik (John); his grandchildren, Katherine Blue (Hunter), Allison Murray (Weston Kightlinger), Lauren Duch (Kyle), Ian Murray, Julia Sanchez (Manuel), McKenzy Naife (Nick) and Aidan Janosik; and his great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ryan, Connor, Brooks and Gwyneth.
