Donna Marie Smit Obituary
With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Donna Marie Smit of Lowell, Michigan, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Donna left this world on October 9, 2025 at the age of 96, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Marvin J. Huver and Eva B. Huver (Halloran); her husband Ed of Mary's Church; her siblings, Richard, Robert, Daniel, Patricia Hoffman and Mary Smyth; her grandchildren, Lindsey Ferris and Jason Smit; her great great grandchild Timber Pray; and her close friend Duke Thomet.
She is survived by: her children, Pam Ferris (Keith) of Findlay, Mike Smit (Patty) of Saranac, Ed Smit (Jeanne) of Lowell, Greg Smit (Merrie) of Ada, Jack Smit (Barb) of Lowell and Angie Gillispie (Bill) of Lowell; and her sister-in-law Ann Huver of Lowell. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, close to 100 great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Lake Funeral Home (158 Mill St, Saranac, MI 48881). A rosary will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church (3927 Jackson Rd, Saranac, MI 48881). A burial will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
