She was predeceased by: her parents, Leon Vandawater and Doris Vandawater; her stepmother Lynette Vandawater; her brother Paul Vandawater; her father-in-law William Serne; and her brothers-in-law, Dale Serne and Kevin Ryskamp.
She is survived by: her husband Dan; her children, Chris Serne (Courtney) and Kyle Serne (Ashley); her grandchildren, Caitlyn Homister (Lane), Andrew, Adam and Gabby Serne; her great grandchildren, Alden and Alaina Homister; her siblings, Carol Talsma (George), Joanne Wierenga (Bill), Janice Staal (Ken), Linda Vandawater and Todd Vandawater (Laura); her sisters-in-law, Deb Ghareeb (Bob), Denise Ryskamp (Kevin), Diane Serne (George Manus) and Darla McAlister (Joe); and her mother-in-law Jeanne Serne. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
