He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Wheeler and Ethel Zoe Stringham; his wife Elizabeth Maxine Smith; his sons, Delbert Isaac and Michael Jerome; and his grandfathers, Kirk and Courtney Barz.
He is survived by: his sons, Wayne Basil Wheeler Jr., Jude Matthias and Anthony Quinten. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Simon Catholic Church (702 E Bryant Rd, Ludington, MI 49431). A vigil service will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers or food, the family requests that donations be made in Wayne's memory to the charity of your choice.
