He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Dykstra and Anna Dykstra (Engelsman). He is survived by: his wife Mary Reusch; his sons, Dale and Paul Dykstra; his stepsons, Vance, Eric and Vincent Reusch; his grandchildren, Nicole, Brian, Adam, Paul Jr. and Jack Dykstra; and his stepgrandchildren, Magena, Oscar and Silas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
