She was predeceased by: her parents, Jan W. Szwapa and Mary Ann Szwapa; and her husband Richard Gdowski. She is survived by: her children, Mariann Young (James) and John Mylenek (Theresa); her grandchildren, Louis Mylenek, Emily Warren (Peter), Adrienne Young (Jeff Bozell) and Annabelle Young; her great grandchildren, Jacob, Thaddeus, Ruthie and Sloane; and her friend Karista Job. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Joan's memory to the Capuchin Province of St. Joseph or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, continuing her legacy of compassion and generosity to causes close to her heart.
